This year, I have participated in many community service projects. every year, our school coordinates a special Olympics bocce ball tournament. Students at Westwood always give up their Saturday to help the special Olympians compete and have a great time! this year we also helped the k-4 classes plant 40 flowers in their garden to celebrate the 40th aniversery of Westwood.
We are also going to be doing a community service project with grades 9-11 the last few days of school. we are going to clean up yards, help out at the animal shelter, visit the nursing home, and clean up cemeteries.
With the recent devastating tornadoes in Alabama, our school has decided to collect some essential items and send them to the people in Alabama who lost everything. This hits close to home, because i have many friends and family in Alabama, who necessarily didn't lose everything, but know people who did lose everything. I think it is very important to give back to the community every chance you get.
For my 10th grade year, i participated in the NHS blodd drive, where i worked at the canteen.
